The Portpatrick Hotel

From £91.00 / night

The Portpatrick Hotel sits above the pretty harbour village of Portpatrick, close to Stranraer on Scotland’s south-west coast. Its elevated position on Heugh Road gives the hotel one of its strongest selling points: wide coastal views over the village, harbour and surrounding cliffs. It is a good choice for guests who want a quieter seaside break, with easy access to Portpatrick’s harbour, coastal paths and the wider Rhins of Galloway area. Inside, the hotel offers traditional accommodation with a choice of room types, including sea-view options. Rooms generally include practical comforts such as private bathrooms, free Wi-Fi, TV, tea and coffee facilities, and hairdryers, making it suitable for short breaks, touring holidays and overnight stops near Stranraer. The building has a classic coastal-hotel feel, with lounges and public areas that make the most of the outlook. The location works well for walkers, couples and visitors exploring Dumfries and Galloway. Nearby attractions include Dunskey Garden, Castle of St John in Stranraer, Stranraer Museum and the Mull of Galloway Trail, while Portpatrick itself is known for its harbour, cliff walks and relaxed village atmosphere. For guests looking for a scenic base near Stranraer rather than a busy town-centre stay, The Portpatrick Hotel offers a peaceful coastal setting with plenty of character.
